About adjustments:

"Adjustments" is related to the action of a teacher placing their hands on your body in order to help you deepen the pose that you are performing. At Chandra Yoga, we respect the fact that each individual has the right to refuse or receive adjustments. In the initial class, we will ask and note each of your unique injuries, areas of concern, and whether or not you wish to receive adjustments. This adjustment depends on your ease and uncomfortable level at first, but it is also an option if you would like to receive after the first week or two. Keep in mind that most adjustments feel amazing, but can sometimes feel a bit uncomfortable if you are particularly tight in that area. We encourage students to always listen to their own bodies, and choose to refuse or welcome adjustments based on their own comfort level. During the TTC, you will also learn how to give adjustments, as that is an important part of learning how to become a yoga teacher!

Daily Schedule:  TTC Program 8 - 9 hours a day

(one and a half free days per week)

06:15 to 07:45 - Morning Meditation, Mantras & Pranayama

Our first class of the day begins as day breaks in India. The town is still quiet and sun is rising as you walk to class with the sound of the birds chirping. Enter into our bright new yoga hall with panoramic views of the Himalayan Mountains at sunrise. Make yourself comfortable in “sukhasana” or “easy pose”, as we will be sitting here for some time learning Sanskrit mantras and breath control techniques. The morning meditation class sets the tone for a bright and balanced day. 

 

07:45 to 08:00-  Tea Break

The yoga course curriculum is accentuated with the timely tea break made lively with the share of natural, caffeine free Ayurvedic Yogi Tea amongst fellow students and teachers. The warmth of this tea is perfect to enhance your digestion level system which is great to start in the morning and provides optimum time to chit-chat with other students.

08:00 to 10:00-  Yoga Asana Practice

Time to get moving! Often depending on the nice weather we may walk down to the banks of the Ganges and practice yoga sessions outside. We begin the morning classes with nice movements and stretching in the form of asana flow to get the blood and oxygen circulating through your body with the after affect of removal of any toxins or stiffness that may have built up during your sleep. In the yoga session phase expanding from an hour and a half practice, we move on to discuss some lecture points related to the class and yoga postures which we have performed. The expansion of the knowledgebase in yoga is made interesting with the questionnaire round where we encourage you to explore your own bodies and share as you learn.

10:00 to 11:00-  Breakfast

Our yoga course works exactly in sequence to this, as once we have worked up the morning asana practice we replenish the yoga exercise workout and nourish our bodies with a wholesome and delicious breakfast. The delish breakfast includes wholesome intake of warm oats with brown sugar and a variety of seasonal fruits which may include papaya, apples, mango, grapes, watermelon, oranges, and/or bananas.

11:00 to 13:00-  Lecture (Yoga Principles / Philosophy / Yoga Sutra)

Yoga lectureThe yoga asana practice is made more informative with theory. During this time you will explore and learn about a variety of topics related to philosophy, ancient Sanskrit yogic texts, and the yoga lifestyle. You may follow along with your reference course handbook during the lecture session, and you are always welcome to ask questions. We encourage and motivate students to share their current knowledge related to the topic, amongst fellow learner as we use this time to learn and grow together.  

TTC Lunch13:00 to 14:00-  Lunch / Rest time

It’s time to learn about the theory behind our yoga asana practice. During this time you will learn about a variety of topics related to philosophy, ancient Sanskrit yogic texts, and the yoga lifestyle. You may follow along with your course handbook during the lecture, and you are always welcome to ask questions. We encourage students to share their current knowledge related to the topic, as we use this time to learn and grow together.

 

14:00 to 16:00-  Anatomy (weeks 1 and 2), Self-study time (weeks 3-4)

Yoga Anatomy ClassDuring the first two weeks course curriculum, you will spend this duration learning about the human body and its correlation to yoga heal effect. In this module, you will gain insight into the knowledge of the muscles, joints, ligaments, and tendons involved in many of the commonly practiced asanas, as well as the vital role of the spine in both asana and pranayama (breathing practice). The lectures will include information on the bodily systems and physiological workings with more focus on the circulatory, digestive, nervous, endocrine, and respiratory systems. During weeks 3 and 4, this time will be used to focus on svadhyaya or “self-study” allowing you the quality time to go on with the textbooks, homework, and prepare for your future teaching practicum classes. This is also the best time to finish all the personal errands such as running to the store, doing laundry, or making phone calls.

 

16:00 to 16:30-  Tea Break

Yogic TeaAs we move on with the final class of the day we take a short break to revitalize with a warm cup of Yogi tea.

 

16:30 to 18:15-  Yoga Asana Practice and Theory

Yoga ClassThe afternoon yoga asana class course curriculum is especially devoted to prepares you to teach yoga. This time of the class is devoted toward comprehensive drill down on the various concepts of different classifications of postures and discuss their proper alignment, benefits, entering and exiting the poses, contraindications, and tips for teaching these postures to your future students. We will also discuss the broader aspects of the use of props, adjustments, making modifications, sequencing, and using among other topics.

 

18:30 to 19:30-  Dinner time

This quote has a lot intact with the dinner time that is made more delish to relax and unwind with the last meal of the day as Chandra Yoga Teacher Training School provides students with a perfect pure vegetarian sattvic and yogic Meal. Dinner menu items are a bit similar to the lunch with hearty vegetables, warm dal, rice, chapattis, and a salad of raw cucumbers, beets, and carrots. Take some time to reflect on the day and your experience as you chat over another cup of yogi tea with friends.

20:00 to 21:30-  Self Study

Self StudyThe source of core learning and concept Foundation comes through a dedicated self-study as we ask our students to take some time to review notes from class, work on yoga assignment, or journal their experiences from the day. We believe that the foundation of svadhyaya in the form of “study of the self” is equally significant to study educational material. It is our hope that during the teacher training program you not only learn how to teach yoga but also gain greater insight into how to become more in touch with your intuitive self through quiet times of reflection and meditation.

21:30- Lights off

After a healthy day of balanced physical and mental effort, you will be ready to turn down the sheets for some much-needed rest. It all starts again tomorrow at 06:15 am, so sleep well!

Yoga Teacher Training: Eligibility

Anyone interested in learning ancient traditional yoga and its applied science, with the ability to follow the instructions and lectures in English (or in the language for which a translator is specified being offered for certain courses) is welcome to join our YTTC.

The applicant's age should be between 18 to 60 years age at the time of admission.

The applicant should be in a good physical condition to accommodate our busy schedule of at least 6 to 9 hours of class daily. 3-4 hours of class per day is dedicated to the physical (asana) practice of yoga, however we do not spend this entire time doing the physical practice ourselves. We also break down the postures, studying them individually as you practice. Therefore, it is not required to be in "perfect" physical condition to take our TTC. We believe that yoga should be accessible to all people, regardless of their experience level or physical abiltiy. We only require that you bring an open heart and mind.
